Britney Spears, Demi Lovato announced as 'X Factor' judges
It's officially official: Demi Lovato will be joining Britney Spears as the two new judges on The X Factor. This hereby declares the show completely irrelevant half the time. The other half, L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell will be speaking, natch.
"I'm so excited about this whole experience," Spears said at the Fox upfront in New York on Monday. "It's going to be so much fun and so different from anything I've ever done. I'm ready to find a true star." And steal Christina Aguilera's thunder from The Voice.
Lovato, meanwhile, was as amazed as we are. "I am totally stoked to be here," she said, according to People. "I'm excited to represent my generation and I'm ready to find the winner." The 19-year-old has been looking for a new gig since having to cut short a world tour for that stint in counseling for an eating disorder and self-mutilation. Her signing was kept hush-hush until Sunday. We figure Miley Cyrus said no.
The pair replace Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul, who were unceremoniously kicked off the show after ratings didn't live up to the hype last season. Things are off to a great start, since Demetria was nice enough to tweet this photo via @ddlovato, which is way better than the blurry one @britneyspears sent out after the announcement. That should give us an indication of the kinds of choices that will be made, no question.
