Britney Spears a no-show at court hearing; emergency custody order remains in effect

Tbdbritneyspearsc011508_2 The special hearing convened in the child custody case between Kevin Federline and Britney Spears came and went Monday with only a glimpse of the manic warbler, the AP reports. Oh, indeed, what a surprise.

What’s not a surprise is that the emergency custody order keeping Brit from seeing tots Sean and Jayden again has been upheld until at least the next sheduled court date of Feb. 19, according to K-Fed attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan.

“The word victory is not something Mr. Federline or his counsel would ascribe to this. There is no joy. This is a grave situation for all,” Kaplan said.

It is at this point The Juice* needs to be responsible and say that Bratney was not required to be at the hearing, but we think it would have been nice for her to at least make the effort, don’t you agree?

Tbdbritneyspearsb011508_2 Spears managed to make it to the L.A. County Courthouse for about a millisecond, arriving in an SUV but refused to go inside at least partly because there were too many photographers.

"Move back. I’m scared. Stop it. Stop it. I want to get back in the car. Just stop it. Let me get in the car, please,” she yelled, according to TMZ. They later reported she turned back while in an underground tunnel to the building because she just wasn’t into testifying.

But that doesn’t mean others weren’t up for it.

K-Fed and Kaplan were there when Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon began the hearing, but Gordon cleared the room of reporters a minute after proceedings began. Meanwhile, the LAPD were outside to keep an eye on things as a throng of media swelled near the courthouse.

Kaplan later told the media that five witnesses — two LAPD officers, a parenting coach, the court-appointed monitor and Federline’s bodyguard — all testified. We wonder what, exactly, they need to testify about, since it’s obvious from every media account that Spears is having some sort of mental collapse.

Spears made a stop at the Little Brown Church in the San Fernando Valley, which prides itself on being open all the time for people to come in and pray. CNN covered it like the Dayton Accord, so it must have been significant.

Not to worry: TMZ then reported she arrived safely at her Malibu home. Whew!
