Britney Spears stops by Bronx middle school

The Britney Spears Magical Musical Comeback Train keeps rolling along, this time stopping at a station in the Bronx. the resurgent pop princess stopped at John Philip Sousa Middle School 142 on Wednesday afternoon, not just for a photo op, but to give away a $10,000 check as an endowment for the school's year-old music program, People reports.

Tbdbritneyspears100308 Of course, the school wasn't in session, since it was closed for Rosh Hashanah, and the check was from Elizabeth Arden, which makes Spears' fragrances Believe, Fantasy and Curious, but it's the money that counts. Some kids were still on hand to see her, though, and the school's eight-piece band still played for her. A chorus of seven girls also sang for her, including 14-year-old Rachel Lewis, who belted out I Am Woman.

"I really enjoyed the time I spent at the John Philip Sousa Middle School," Spears told the mag. "I've been working with the people at Elizabeth Arden for the last five years, and I know how passionate everyone is about the school. I loved hearing the school orchestra and the children sang so beautifully.

"The fact that Elizabeth Arden made such a large donation for the school music studio in my name was so generous." What, papa Jamie wouldn't let her spend that money on her own?
