Bruno Mars pleads guilty to cocaine charge to avoid prison time
First Bruno Mars won a Grammy, now he's managed to avoid pretty much any punishment at all on felony cocaine possession charges. How's that for having a good week?
Mars copped a plea in a Las Vegas courtroom Thursday morning, pleading guilty at his arraignment in exchange for a year's probation. If he manages to stay out of trouble, the charge will be removed from his record. The 25-year-old was caught with 2.6 grams of powder at the Hard Rock back in September. Oh, and he also gets fined $2,000, has to go to drug counseling and must complete 200 hours of community service.
"Bruno is very appreciative that the charges are going to be dismissed," lawyer Blair Berk told E!. Well, let's just see what happens in the next 12 months before we go making any declarations. Mars is starting a 24-city tour with Janelle Monae on May 4, so one slip-up could send him to the pokey for a spell.
