Bubba Smith, NFL vet and star of 'Police Academy', dead at 66
It is our sad duty to report that Officer Moses Hightower from Police Academy has passed away. NFL veteran and actor Charles Aaron "Bubba" Smith was found dead in his home Wednesday in Los Angeles. He was 66.
The L.A. County coroner hasn't determined a cause of death, but it's thought the 6-foot-7 defensive end died of natural causes, the L.A. Times reports. He was found by a caretaker, the paper says.
Born in Orange, Texas, in 1945, Smith was a nine-year veteran of the NFL, playing for the Baltimore Colts, Oakland raiders and Houston Oilers between 1967 and 1976. He made the Pro Bowl with the Colts in 1970 and '71. The Colts won the Super Bowl in 1970.
