Casting call is also out for a remake of 'The Crow'
Speaking of casting calls, the inevitable remake of 1994's The Crow is rambling along, with producer Ryan Kavanaugh looking for an actor for the lead role of Eric Draven, originally played by Brandon Lee in his final role. We have an idea: Nobody.
"We're looking. We're in discussions… I think it's something cool, we're approaching it differently. It's really a whole relaunch of the franchise, much more of a dark superhero type," Kavanaugh tells io9.com.
Wait, isn't that kind of what they did in the original? Never mind that James O'Barr's comic originally was about a crazed, tortured soul who came back from the dead simply to avenge the gang rape and murder of his fiancee. That's why he's touting this as a "relaunch of the franchise." But who could the job go to?
"It will be an actor you've heard of, yes," Kavanaugh says. "We're not ruling anything out. We're looking at both, with the very well known and the 'very talented but they may not be quite there yet.'"
We say make it Ellen Page and call her Erica. That would really turn the whole thing on its ear.
