Casting call out for another Blair Witch movie
Don't look now, but it looks like the success of Paranormal Activity has accelerated plans for a remake of The Blair Witch Project, the documentary-style creepfest that revived that whole trend a mere 10 years or so ago. There should at least be some kind of minimum waiting period for remakes.
A mysterious casting call from director Stacy Hopkins has made it out to the Web, FilmJunk.com reports, looking for Canadian and U.S. actors for a shoot in Glasgow, Scotland.
"Dennis Hither, Michael Adams and Donald Walker, experienced filmmakers, set out to shoot a documentary about a local legend, the Blair Witch," the casting call reads. "We seek amateur/semi professional actors/actresses to play the roles of three experienced film makers, and females to play Michael’s girl friend. There are 4 roles available, with Dennis Hither being the lead role."
There's no mention of original directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez, who had once said a sequel was in the works, so we think this is a remake. But then Artisan Entertainment made Book of Shadows and we haven't heard boo since. It should probably stay that way.
