Cate Blanchett suffers head wound on stage

Tbd-cateblanchett090309 Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett got a nasty, bleeding head wound after being hit on the head by a stage prop during a performance of A Streetcar Named Desire in Sydney on Wednesday, the AP reports. Just so long as it wasn't anything as big as a streetcar.

The performance of Tennessee Williams' play was canceled, but Cate will be back for Thursday's show with the Sydney Theater Company, troupe spokesman Tim McKeough said.

"Another actor lifted the prop above his head, and she somehow sustained a minor blow to the head," McKeough said Blanchett is playing Blanche DuBois in the show.

An audience member told Sydney's Macquarie Radio it soon became clear the accident was not part of the play. "She had blood streaming down the back of her head and blood on the back of her neck," the unnamed theater-goer said.

The company is run by Blanchett and her playwright husband, Andrew Upton, so at least they'll know who to sue.
