CBS orders script for a 'Brady Bunch' reboot

tbd-bradybunch080212.jpgThe remake bug still continues to bite network TV, because CBS has announced they have made a script commitment with Vince Vaughn's production company for a reboot of The Brady Bunch. Didn't TV learn anything from Charlie's Angels and Wonder Woman?

The Hollywood Reporter says this version will focus on Bobby Brady, whose divorced dad is remarried and shares his family with hers, plus a shared child, whom all the other kids probably hate. It will be written by Raising Hope's Mike Mariano, who will also executive produce with Lloyd Schwartz, who is the son of Sherwood Schwartz, the man who created the original, the site says. Other executive producers include Vaughn and Peter Billingsley, who currently work on TBS' Sullivan & Son with comedian Steve Byrne.

It will be awhile until this hits the pilot stage, depending on the strength of the script, but CBS, which owns the rights to the show through Paramount, is hoping to ape the success of its resurrection of Hawaii Five-O, THR notes. The CW has also done well with 90210 and is looking to rekindle Beauty and the BeastRon Perlman would look the part even more these days.
