Celebrities are dying en masse on Twitter for World AIDS Day

tbd-kimkardashian113010.jpgIf you're cruising the Twitterverse on Wednesday, you may find that things are a little empty. That's because your favorite celebrity has likely signed off as part of a fund-raiser for World Aids Day. How will we live without a daily update from some rich person we don't even know?

Kim Kardashian, who is featured in this promotional image for the movement, joins the likes of Lady Gaga, Jennifer Hudson, Ryan Seacrest, Elijah Wood, Serena Williams, Justin Timberlade and even Kim's sister Khloe (not that anyone would notice) in signing off their accounts for Alicia Keys' charity, Keep a Child Alive. The celebrities, including Keys and her husband Swizz Beatz, will return when the organization has brought in $1 million to help AIDS awareness campaigns, especially in Africa.

"We're trying to sort of make the remark: Why do we care so much about the death of one celebrity as opposed to millions and millions of people dying in the place that we're all from?" Keep a Child Alive co-founder Leigh Blake told People. "It's about love and respect and human dignity." Wait, we thought it was about celebrities, who possess none of those qualities. Check out BuyLife.org or just text some cash with your favorite participating celebrity's name to 90999 today, if you really want to hear from them again.
