'Celebrity Rehab' alum Jeff Conaway to be taken off life support
The family of Grease and Taxi actor Jeff Conaway decided to turn off the actor’s life support Thursday, about two weeks after he was brought unconscious and unresponsive to the hospital, RadarOnline reports.
"Doctors advised the family that Jeff has had no brain function since he was brought into the hospital," a source told the site on Thursday. "The feeding tube has already been removed. The ventilator which is breathing for Jeff, will be removed sometime this afternoon. Jeff is in no pain whatsoever." It wasn't known as of this writing how he would respond to be taken off the respirator.
The 60-year-old Celebrity Rehab alum was brought in May 11 after an apparent overdose of prescription drugs. Dr. Drew Pinsky later said Conaway was suffering from pneumonia and sepsis, causing his coma. It seemed late Thursday his fight was over.
"No measures will be made to try and revive him once the breathing tube is removed," the source said. "Jeff has remained unconscious and is unaware of what is going on."
