Channing Tatum to produce, star in Evel Knievel movie
Not content to enjoy the mild success he's had with Magic Mike, former Tampa stripper Channing Tatum is working on his next project: An Evel Knievel biopic in which he will both star and produce. We all know he'll fill out that stars and stripes jumpsuit well enough.
This movie, which will be based on Stuart Barker's 2008 book Life of Evel, will be co-produced by Tatum's pal Reid Carolin, along with Fifty Shades of Grey producers Mike DeLuca and Dana Brunetti, the Hollywood Reporter says. That's coming up soon, but first Channing has to play Olympic wrestler Mark Schultz in Foxcatcher.
Montana-born daredevil stuntman Robert Craig Knievel died in Clearwater in 2007, so he has Florida ties, just like the Tatum's semi-autobiographical stripper. He seems to be cataloguing west-central Florida lore, so we expect him to star in the Macho Man Randy Savage movie in a couple of years. Hulk Hogan can direct!
