China remakes Disney's 'High School Musical'
Remakes aren't limited to these shores, oh no: In fact, High School Musical is getting the wheels rotated for a trip to china, the Press Association reports. We doubt that Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens will get picked for that one, though.
The remade flick, retitled Disney High School Musical: China, will be co-produced by Chinese companies Shanghai Media Group and Huayi Brothers Media Corp, the Walt Disney Corporation said, allowing it to bypass China's annual release quota of 20 foreign films. See how that works?
Disney's had practice doing co-production before, releasing The Magic Gourd in 2007 and Trail of The Panda this year. It will still involve two wacky kids who try to win an inter-school singing competiton, though. We'd have to imagine they'd be competing against 6,000 other kids instead of six, though. Hey, it is China.
