Chow Yun-Fat is completely Americanized

If there's one thing you need to know about The Juice*, it's that we love kung fu movies, especially ones starring Chow Yun-Fat. That's why it surprises us to hear from the AP that at the last minute, the 51-year-old Chinese has dropped out of Red Cliff, an $80-million historical epic directed by John Woo (Woo made Chow Yun-Fat a star back in 1986, casting him as the lead in A Better Tomorrow). So why the change of heart? The actor says he only got the script Friday, and didn't have time to prepare. THe production company disputes this, claiming the script dropped off Friday was merely a revision with changes Chow asked for, and the real sticking point was some 73 clauses in the actor's contract they didn't feel they could honor. "My contract is indeed based on contracts I use for Hollywood movies in America," Chow said in a statement. "Maybe everyone hasn't gotten used to Hollywood contracts because so many investors are involved." Yeah, but asking for ice in your Diet Coke? That's just going way too far.
