Chris Brown rages after 'Good Morning America' interview, smashes window, runs off shirtless
Chris Brown really flipped the script Tuesday on Good Morning America, storming off the set and allegedly breaking out a window with a chair before leaving the building with no shirt of after Robin Roberts kept asking him about that one time he beat the heck out of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna (you may have heard about it). That's not going to change the perception you're a bubbling cauldron of rage that explodes at inappropriate times, Chris.
Roberts started her interview by asking whether the two singers had seen each other since the restraining order had been relaxed, prompting Brown to say, "I mean, not really. It's not really a big deal to me now as far as that situation. I think I'm past that in my life. I think today's the album day so that's what I'm focused on. Everybody go get that album." (Watch the interview below.)
So far, so good, answering the question and shifting focus. Of course, Roberts persisted, asking twice more, pushing him to respond he is "focusing on this album. Definitely, this album is what I want them to talk about and not stuff that happened two years ago."
He then got up and performed Yeah 3x off his new album F.A.M.E., then trompled off the stage. ABC News says there was then a ruckus from his green room, which was apparently bad enough that the hair and makeup people called security. After a shirtless Brown confronted a producer, it was discovered a window in his dressing room had been broken, sending glass onto the New York street below. Wow, it sounds like destruction of private property would cause a problem with his probation, don't you think?
Brown left the building by the time security found out about that, though, running out into Times Square without a shirt on. He took to his Twitter feed, @chrisbrown, to say "I'm so over people bringing this past s--- up!!! Yet we praise Charlie sheen and other celebs for there bulls---," MTV reports. That was quickly taken down and replaced with "All my fans!!! This album is for you and only you!!! I'm so tired of everyone else!! Honestly!! I love team breezy!!"
TMZ later reported that Roberts wasn't trying to set up Brown or cause him problems, noting she had cleared the Rihanna question with him before the interview. She said she was "pulling for the guy," according to sources. Word is ABC may be thinking of pulling him from next week's performance on Dancing With the Stars. Oh, Breezy, your PR folks must love you.
Meanwhile, while The Juice* honestly respects his attempt to stay on message and move on with his life, this was not the right way to handle a disagreeable question. The fact that he now looks like Simon Phoenix from Demolition Man sure doesn't help, either.
