Chris Tucker's Central Florida house in foreclosure
As if his almost complete absence from movie screens wasn't indication enough that Chris Tucker's career is flailing, his multi-million-dollar, 10,000-square-foot waterfront house on Lake Apopka is now in foreclosure. Considering it's in the ill-fated Bella Collina development near Orlando, he may just be trying to fit in with his neighbors.
Papers filed in Lake County say Tucker bought the home in 2007 for $6 million, but still owes SunTrust more than $4.4 million. The IRS had placed a $11.5 million lien on the property last year to collect income taxes from the actor. His monthly mortgage payment on the place was listed as $25,812.50, the Orlando Sentinel says.
Bella Collina is a planned, 1,900-acre community that was supposed to feature 800 homes. While more than 700 lots were sold between 2004 and 2007 -- some for more than $1 million -- only 40 were ever developed into homes (depressing Google Maps view here). And why start now? Tucker's once-expensive joint, featuring five bedrooms, an outdoor kitchen and a basement designed to look like the deck of a pirate ship, is now assessed at a mere $1.6 million. We don't see him fighting that foreclosure too hard.
