Christian Bale says he's done playing Batman
For the past six years, Batman fans have had the heros that they wanted and that the franchise deserved: Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan. But it’s looking increasingly likely that won’t be the case for long. Bale recently told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that he’s likely finished with his role for good now that The Dark Knight Rises, his third Batman film, has finished filming.
"I wrapped a few days ago, so that will be the last time I'm taking that cowl off," Bale said. "I believe that the whole production wrapped yesterday, so it's all done. Everything's finished. It's me and Chris — that will be the end of that Batman era." But at least Bale’s split from the role of Bruce Wayne seems amicable.
"It's like saying goodbye to an old friend," he told Ace Showbiz. "When you have the opportunity to be a character so many times, you develop another relationship with him, a more profound one." So maybe he'll swipe a cowl or two from wardrobe and slip it on every now and then in private, just for fun. We know we would.
