Chyler Leigh reveals it was her decision to leave 'Grey's Anatomy'
One of the more shocking season-enders was the departure of Chyler Leigh from Seattle Grace on Grey's Anatomy in rather gruesome fashion. But get this: It was her idea. Given the acrimonious nature of some of creator Shonda Rhimes' relationships with her actors in the past, that's pretty surprising to hear.
"Earlier this year, I made the decision that Season eight would be my last on Grey’s Anatomy," Leigh told TVLine.com in a statement. "I met with Shonda and we worked together to give Lexie’s story appropriate closure." That closure was leaving the show under the fuselage of a crashed airplane, but whatever. "I am very lucky to have worked with this amazing cast and crew for five seasons. My experience on Grey’s Anatomy is something that I will treasure for the rest of my life."
No word on what the reason for her leaving was, but it probably had something to do with Lexie being hidden behind big lab coats, beds and tables when she was pregnant a couple seasons back. They couldn't just have her leave for another job like Kim Raver did, could they?
