Coroner tells inquest Alexander McQueen hanged himself, left a suicide note
A British coroner told a London inquest on Wednesday that fashion designer Alexander McQueen did, in fact, commit suicide in his home last Thursday, CNN reports. The 40-year-old also left a note after hanging himself in his wardrobe.
Coroner's officer Lynda Martindill said the cause of death was asphyxia and hanging, and that a police officer called the death "nonsuspicious" at the inquest: "The coroner said a note had been found and is being looked at by the police," Martindill said.
A full post-mortem report will be available when the inquest resumes on April 28. McQueen was reportedly distraught over the death of his mother earlier this month.
