Courtney Love lost rights to Kurt Cobain's image to Frances Bean in 2010
Courtney Love was whining just the other day about how her late husband Kurt Cobain would have never let the Muppets cover Smells Like Teen Spirit, but you know what? That doesn't matter, because she doesn't control anything Kurt made; their daughter Frances Bean does.
According to TheFix.com, Love gave up all the rights to End of Music LLC, which is in charge of using Kurt for publicity rights, because she took a $2.75 million loan from Frances' trust fund in 2010. In exchange for the cash, she agreed to give her daughter full control of any use of Kurt's appearance, name or likeness through EOM until Love pays back the loan (Love lost custody of Frances in 2009). And what are the chances Courtney freakin' Love is going to be able to pay back that kind of money?
Why is this coming to light now? It may have been leaked by a certain someone after the Muppets comment. Or possibly by someone not too happy she accused Dave Grohl of hitting on Frances, now 19, when she was much younger. Either way, tune into Courtney's Twitter feed to find out her version of the story, if you can make sense of whatever she may say.
