Cruise, Redford, GOP come out for anti-war flick
Robert Redford and Tom Cruise advertise the wonders of Botox and cosmetic dentistry at the world premiere of Lions for Lambs Monday in London. Fox News was quick to point out that people are loving this anti-war film -- featuring Cruise as a Republican senator trying to get reporter Meryl Streep to positively spin a drive into Afghanistan -- even Republicans.
Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder told columnist Roger Friedman the movie causes no "uneasy moments," which we think kind of misses the point. Snyder gave the Republican National Committee $50,000 in 2005-2006, Fox says, and had been rumored to have been bought out of his investment stake in Cruise's and Paula Wagner's production company, which is behind Lions.
Snyder is still getting an executive producer credit on another of Cruise's films, the Nazi-era Valkyrie, so they must still be staying the course.
