Dakota Culkin had been drinking, Paula Goodspeed had been taking drugs when they died
• Dakota Culkin, the 29-year-old sister of actors Macaulay, Rory and Kieran, was "more than likely impaired due to alcohol" when she was hit and killed by a car in L.A., a source tells People. Lt. Fred Corral of the L.A. coroner’s department said Dakota had traces of alcohol in her system, although her BAC wasn’t known just yet. She had reportedly just left a Marina Del Rey bar when she crossed the street and was killed by an oncoming vehicle, the mag says. Dakota had recently moved to L.A. to work in movie production before she was killed on Dec. 9.
• In less surprising news, Paula Goodspeed, the American Idol hopeful found dead outside Paula Abdul’s home in November, committed suicide, the L.A. coroner reports. Assistant chief Ed Winter says Goodspeed overdosed on prescription drugs, although his report didn’t specify which drugs. Officials had suspected suicide, but the coroner’s office had been waiting on toxicology tests.
