Demi Moore saves suicidal woman on Twitter
To you Cro-Magnons who think Twitter is a waste of time, just you remember that Demi Moore used it to save someone's life on Friday. The tweet-happy @mrskutcher got a message from a woman who wrote, "Getting a knife, a big one that is sharp. Going to cut my arm down the whole arm so it doesn't waste time."
Alarmed as any rational person would be, she reposted the message to her legions of fans, tweeting "Everyone I was very torn about responding or retweeting that woman's post but felt uncomfortable just letting it go."
Her 380k-plus followers didn't let it go, with several calling the San Jose Police Department (where the poster lived) starting around 3 a.m., Us reports. The fuzz showed up and took the suicidal microblogger, who hadn't yet hurt herself, to the hospital.
"Thanks everyone for reaching out to the San Jose PD i am told they are aware and no need to call anymore. I do not know this woman," Moore wrote. "I am inspired by the enormous response of humanity here and thank you..."
Great news, but we can't help but wonder if we're seeing Ashton Kutcher's latest project: microdramas. They're like radio dramas, but only 140 characters long. Keep an eye on Demi and Ashton by following The Juice* @tbtjuice. Is promoting ourselves now too crass?
