Dennis Farina arrested for having gun in LAX
Former Law and Order actor Dennis Farina was busted at LAX Sunday trying to board a flight to Chicago with a handgun, the L.A. Times reports. Farina -- whom you may also remember as Avi in Snatch or Jack Crawford in Manhunter, among other things -- was booked on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon after screeners found a loaded .22-caliber semi-automatic pistol in his briefcase.
The 64-year-old said he had forgotten he put the gun in there and apologized profusely, but he still ended up in a Van Nuys jail for most of the day before posting $35,000 bail. Point of interest: Farina had apparently been a cop in Chicago as a younger man.
"He was apologetic and very cooperative, and he said he understood what was going to happen," LAX Police Sgt. Jim Holcomb said. What we don't understand is why he would be carrying a loaded gun for which he had no permit. Maybe he thought all those gangsters and serial killers were still coming after him.
