Diabetic Tracy Morgan had a kidney transplant

It looks like losing all that weight this season didn't stop Tracy Morgan from needing a kidney transplant. His rep revealed that he had the organ swap around Dec. 10, and will miss at least two episodes of 30 Rock. A kidney transplant at 42? What, is he diabetic or something? Oh, right.

"Tracy is doing well and taking some much needed time to recover after the surgery," Nicole Chabot told Entertainment Weekly. "He is looking forward to going back to work after the holidays." Morgan was diagnosed with the disease in 1996.

Morgan's cohort on the show, Grizz Chapman, also had a kidney transplant earlier this year, and is the national spokesman for the Kidney Foundation. Well, at least we know what the hot new accessory is this Christmas. Tina Fey and the writers will explain Morgan's absence of up to three episodes in March as a meltdown of some kind by his character, Tracy Jordan. As a diabetic myself, The Juice* thinks they should just run with it, and shoot some scenes in Morgan's hospital room. Maybe then people will see what happens and put down the Big Macs and chili cheese fries for awhile.
