Dina Lohan blames judge for being harsh on Lindsay, says she's doing just fine
Everyone's still obsessed with Lindsay Lohan, this time because mom Dina went on the Today show and got grilled by Matt Lauer, who was surprisingly capable in his admonishment of the poor parent. That's okay, though, because Dina says Lindsay's not coming back to Hollywood. Look out, New York City.
California is wonderful, but "it's a different game you play there," Dina told Lauer on Friday (watch all 13 minutes above). "I'm not condoning drinking and driving, but she's still paying the price for what she did in 2007. ... She's changed, She'd grown up considerably."
In fact, Lindsay has grown up so much, it looks like she may get out of rehab earlier than the 90 days judge Marsha Revel ordered to her, since Revel recused herself from the case. Of course, there's always the very real chance the order of two 45-day stints could stand, too.
"It's up to the judge to amend the court order or to send her to a new program. There are no standing court dates in Lohan's case. There would have to be a hearing first to amend the judge's orders," DA spokesperson Jan Robison told People. And you'd better believe Dina think Revel is to blame for punishing Lindsay.
"The judge played hardball," she told Lauer. "Lindsay was in with alleged murderers and she's become friends with a lot of them. Lindsay rolled with the punches and she's doing wonderfully."
Of course, Dina's wonderful parenting is what was behind all that, although she admitted it hasn't looked that way: "As a parent, you have to let them go a little bit," she said. "When she went out to Los Angeles when she was 19, I had to let her live and fall and fail and survive. Without failure, there's no success."
If that's the case, Lindsay is due to be the biggest movie star the world has ever seen.
