DreamWorks gets rights to 'Ghost in the Shell'
For all the manga geeks out there, Variety reports that DreamWorks has acquired the rights to Ghost in the Shell, with plans to make a live-action feature out of it. That gives us pause after seeing Charlize Theron in Aeon Flux.
Steven Spielberg is supposedly one of the big names behind the deal, with Variety saying he took "personal interest" in the property. And why wouldn't he be interested in Masamune Shirow's comic about cyborg cops that spawned two print follow-ups, three anime films, a TV series and three videogames?
Now just don't get some no-name starlet to strap on garters and a leather jacket to play Major Motoko Kusanagi (pictured) and we'll be fine.
