Drew Carey sued for $375k in World Cup suit
Drew Carey may have lost a lot of weight recently, but a tour company wants to lighten his wallet, thanks to a lawsuit they filed after he allegedly bailed on a trip to South Africa for the World Cup this summer. We'd use some clever turn of phrase involving corner kicks or fouls, but most of you wouldn't get it, anyway.
TMZ says a company filed papers in L.A. County accusing Carey of backing out on a 35-night stay at a five-star resort for the tournament. Apparently the company paid a hotel $220,000 as a down payment, but Drew only paid for match tickets an assistant had asked the company to secure, not the room. The total bill rings up at $376,930.13, the site says.
"This is a ridiculous lawsuit," a rep for the Price Is Right host says. "The company knew in early March that Drew was not booking the trip through them and we are confident that Drew will be vindicated in court." Maybe they could get the judge to just let them play Plinko to settle the whole thing.
