Elton John wants gay joke out of 'The Dilemma', turned down judge spot on 'American Idol'
It's a double dose of Elton John today, as he says Vince Vaughn's gay joke in The Dilemma should be removed and thinks American Idol is a terrible show. Sir Elton, if ever you need a place to stay in Tampa Bay, give us a ring, because you're one of the good celebrities.
"Enough already," John told Us magazine about Vaughn's joke referring to electric cars as being gay. He then praised CNN's Anderson Cooper for chiding the gag. "His heart is in exactly the right place -- same as mine. He thinks the way I do. He's intelligent, and he's on the side of what we're on. I hate bigotry. I hate racial hatred. I hate sexual hatred. I mean, Anderson is on our side."
He also talked to Britain's Radio Times magazine, saying he's "not a fan of talent shows," particularly America's favorite. That's why he couldn't work there: "I was asked to judge American Idol. I couldn't do it because I won't slag anyone off. Also I don't want to be on television. It's become boring, arse-paralysingly brain crippling."
For someone who doesn't want to criticize, Elton's sure been doing a good job.
