Emma Stone will play Gwen Stacy in 'Spider-Man' reboot

The Spider-Man reboot continues to gain steam, with Emma Stone being cast as Gwen Stacy opposite Andrew Garfield, the AP reports. That's a coup for the 21-year-old actress, but geeks in the know understand it can't end well for her.

Director Marc Webb says the chemistry between Stone and Garfield was "stunning," so the Easy A and Zombieland actress was the "clear choice." Maybe this time they'll get the sequence of events right for Peter Parker, instead of letting Kirsten Dunst hog the spotlight as Mary Jane Watson for two movies before introducing Bryce Dallas Howard as Gwen in part III.

The movie will be released July 3, 2012, which should give Gwen plenty of time to read eight years' worth of The Amazing Spider-Man comics. Just remember to stay of the George Washington Bridge and everything will be okay.
