Et tu, L.A. Reid?

There’s something amiss over at Def Jam records, the New York Daily News tells us. Two years after Jay-Z took over as CEO of Antonio "L.A." Reid’s hip-hop label (and rebranding it as a go-to for hit music), the rapper-turned-CEO wants the credit where it’s due — in his wallet. “Jay is asking for several million as a base salary,” a source tells the paper, “plus big bonus ‘bumps’ on records that do well. L.A. isn’t going for it. They’re miles apart.” And the debate isn’t just focused on Jay-Z’s mogul status (he’s got a clothing line, a chain of nightclubs, a rap tour and even a Champagne label). In fact, the problem might be Reid feeling left out:  “When Jay walks into a meeting, he sucks the air out of the room,” another source says. “Even without trying. At the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame awards, Jay and L.A. were sitting at the same table. But it was like L.A. was invisible.” Reid laughs off such notions, but we remind you of the Ides of March, dear readers ...
