Even President Obama thinks Kanye West is a jackass
By now you've heard that President Barack Obama told a reporter (supposedly off the record) what he really thinks of Kanye West's hijacking of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. You've also likely seen Kanye's stammering apology on The Jay Leno Show Monday night (watch it above). So really, the only question is, who disagrees with the president on this?
Obama was speaking to ABC reporter Terry Moran for a CNBC interview and made the comment while his microphone was being adjusted. Moran then recounted from that conversation via @TerryMoran: "Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a 'jackass' for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT'S presidential."
Apparently Moran doesn't know what "off the record" means -- that would be presidential -- but his bosses sure do.The tweet has since been deleted, but nothing really dies on the Internet.
"In the process of reporting on remarks by President Obama that were made during a CNBC interview, ABC News employees prematurely tweeted a portion of those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview," ABC told Politico. "This was done before our editorial process had been completed. That was wrong. We apologize to the White House and CNBC and are taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again."
We can only assume ensuring that will not happen again includes beating Moran with a rubber hose, or at least making him take some time off like West says he will. But really, Obama should work that point of view into his next address to Congress.
