Ewan McGregor and pal take another trip
Ewan McGregor and actor pal Charley Boorman on Saturday completed a 15,000-mile trek from John O’Groats, Scotland to Cape Town, South Africa as a follow-up to their 2004 grobe-crossing adventure, Long Way Round.
The U.K.’s Herald says the pair dodged sandstorms, blistering heat, shady characters and thousands of ants en route to an 18-country odyssey through the likes of Libya, Ethiopia, Sudan and Rwanda. Along the way they visited the Pyramids, coffee plantations, lnadmine-removal projects and a crocodile farm for the next BBC-produced series, Long Way Down, which should premiere in the fall.
No word on whether Charley lost as much weight as he did on the last trip, but he was a little miffed that Ewan’s wife Eve joined the gang in Malawi: “Eve is here, with Ewan, and you know, it used to be Ewan and me, and now it’s Ewan, Eve and what’s that guy’s name again? Oh yeah, Charley.”
