Fans line up to say bye to Bob

Tbdbarker060607 Wednesday was it for Bob Barker fans, marking the final episode of erstwhile game show The Price Is Right for the silver-haired host, and the fans ate it up, the AP says.

Tampa’s Philip Barrett (pictured), 24, had camped outside the studios since Saturday to see Barker tape his last show. “This is the chance of a lifetime,” he said. C

BS sends out more tickets than its 325-seat studio can accommodate, so fans who wanted a seat needed to get in line early to see the 83-year-old’s last show.

“I’m here because I need to kiss Bob,” said Melanie Zepeda Velez, 32, from Alberta, Canada.

His icon status transcends the latest trends, it seems.

“I’d rather win a couch from Bob Barker than a million dollars from Howie Mandel,” said Mark Dub, a NASA engineer who flew from Houston for the final show. “He’s part of American culture.”

While Barker’s retirement begins Thursday, the last episode of his 35-year hosting career will air June 15. Until then, get all your spaying and neutering done in honor of the TV legend.
