Fan's mom sues Justin Bieber for $9.23 million over hearing loss
The Juice* has been saying now for years Justin Bieber is pretty much just noise, but now a fan's mom is taking him to court over it. Stacey Wilson Betts is demanding $9.23 million because she says the Biebs ruined her hearing. And we just wish we were deaf when he's singing.
Betts claims that "due to an unforeseen aspect of the show," she suffered hearing loss, severe tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and hyperacusis (oversensitivity to sound) after a sound blast that "exceeeded safe decibel levels" when she took her daughter to a July 2010 concert in Portland, Ore., E! News reports.
She says Bieber "climbed into a heart shaped, aluminum/steel gondola and was pulled out over the crowd" that created a "wave like effect of screaming," the lawsuit read, according to E!. Bieber only made it worse by waving his arms and goading them on, and the gondola acted like a bell amplifying the sound. If only there were some indication screaming girls would be at a Justin Bieber concert.
That story sounds like a bit of a stretch, especially for $9.23 million, but Betts is also suing Island Def Jam Records, the concert promoter and the arena that allowed all these dreadful shenanigans. And all it would have took is an ounce of sense and $2 for some earplugs.
