Former James Bond decries 007's Heineken deal for 'Skyfall'
You may have heard by now that MGM struck a $45 million deal with Heineken to have Daniel Craig order the Dutch beer in the upcoming Skyfall instead of James Bond's signature vodka martini. That has a former 007 shaken and stirred, saying that's just plain ridiculous. Who said that? Not Sean Connery. Not Roger Moore. Not Timothy Dalton or Pierce Brosnan. That leaves only George Lazenby. Wow, MGM must be very concerned.
Lazenby, who starred as bond only once in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, told TMZ breaking the tradition is sad, but studios "go where the money is," and Heineken has a lot of it. "Plus, it's not the best beer out there, either." No argument there.
We can't believe Connery didn't get in on this one. He's so torqued about his 007 years we woulda thought he'd chime in with some kind of rip. We can already hear him saying, "It'sh aboot time he shtop drinking thaht nanchy shtuff!"
