Fox admits 'X Factor' contestants lip-synch sometimes
Fox has been forced to admit contestants on its new singing competition The X-Factor lip-synch during their performances, after hopeful Leroy Bell was spotted singing even before he lifted his microphone on Thursday. Lip-synching? On a singing contest? What could be wrong with that?
"All survival songs are performed live, with just a backing track," a show representative told TheWrap.com. "For the group ensemble performance, the vocals are pre-recorded to allow acts to concentrate on preparing for their own live competitive performances on Wednesdays -- this is also no different to what other competition shows do for ensemble performances."
To be fair, this was in the opening medley, and not during the competition (watch the offending instance above), but it really seems to go against the spirit of the entire show. Next thing you're going to tell us is that people like Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj don't actually sing during their concerts, either. Wait, what?
