Fox orders pilot for 'The Punisher' TV series

While comic books have long ago invaded the big screen, the small-screen resurgence hit a snag this year when Wonder Woman's pilot was refused. Luckily Fox has plans to bring The Punisher to the small screen. That's kinda violent for prime-time, isn't it?

This version plans to turn the Frank Castle story on its ear by making him a detective with the NYPD who moonlights as the vigilante, reports. That's quite a change from the usual ex-Marine martial arts expert who acts as a full-time killing machine (although he was an FBI agent in the 2004 movie version). Remember when he went after Spider-Man? Must be because Disney bought Marvel.

This Ed Bernero project looks to move faster than Guillermo del Toro's Hulk show and Melissa Rosenberg's AKA Jessica Jones, the site says. The Juice* doesn't know if that's a good thing, because turning a one-man army into NYPD Blue sounds a little slow. Plus, it's probably not gonna be shot in Tampa, either.
