Fox's 'House' is ending its run after this season
Hugh Laurie won't be making House calls anymore, as the long-running medical drama will close up shop after this season. Where will be get our Brits playing American doctors now? Oh, there's always Grey's Anatomy (thanks, Kevin McKidd).
"The decision to end the show now, or ever, is a painful one, as it risks putting asunder hundreds of close friendships that have developed over the last eight years — but also because the show itself has been a source of great pride to everyone involved," executive producers David Shore and Katie Jacobs told Entertainment Weekly in a statement with Laurie. "The producers have always imagined House as an enigmatic creature; he should never be the last one to leave the party. How much better to disappear before the music stops, while there is still some promise and mystique in the air."
The ratings have been fine, but Fox constantly has fretted over whether they want to pay for the show anymore, especially with new efforts like Alcatraz, Terra Nova and The Finder, EW says. Don't expect it to show up on NBC or basic cable either. No, it looks like House is getting that gold watch for real. Enjoy the ride.
