'General Hospital' not being canceled, 'The Revolution' is over
Since All My Children and One Life To Live got booted, it looked like soap operas were an endangered species, but don't worry about General Hospital -- that patient's ticker is still going. Even Katie Couric couldn't kill it.
Deadline.com says Couric's new show Katie will still take of GH's 3 p.m. time slot, but the soap will remain on ABC. First-year talk show The Revolution wasn't so lucky, however, as it will be killed off next season. Now GH will fill an hour next to The Chew before Katie, which starts Sept. 10.
Speaking of which, that leaves ABC about nine weeks between when The Revolution ends and Katie begins, so they're planning to air a Good Morning America show in the open time slot. Don't worry, its ratings will probably be just as bad as the numbers for all of these other shows.
