George says he's really terribly sorry
Mercy be! George Michael says he’s “very ashamed” about driving under the influence of drugs, pleading guilty in a British court and blaming his behavior on tiredness and prescription medicine, Reuters says.
“I did something very stupid,” the 43-year-old singer said Tuesday. “I was not in my normal physical state and I am perfectly prepared to accept the correct punishment for that and I would have accepted it a long time ago.”
He won’t be sentenced yet, though — he faces another hearing May 30. The charge carries a maximum six-month jail term and a fine of up to 5,000 pounds (that’s about $10,000 to you and me). But hey, Georgie’s got a European tour coming up, so he can’t be bothered with all that.
