Golden Globe winner Michael C. Hall opens up about Hodgkin's lymphoma
If you watched Sunday’s Golden Globes, you may have been surprised to see Dexter’s Michael C. Hall accept his prize for best actor in a TV drama while wearing a stocking cap. Only days before, the actor had announced he was undergoing treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Backstage, he opened up to reporters about his illness. “It’s nice to have a justifiable excuse for accessorizing,” he joked. “I found this Japanese hat. I wanted something that was pretty simple, but maybe a little fancier than your normal thing.”
Seriously, though, he told EW.com: “When it’s a matter of health, it is very much a personal matter. I had every intention of keeping it quiet, but because the award shows were imminent, I figured I’d make a statement. It was also nice to assure people that I was really on the road to recovery.”
