Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong in rehab after Vegas rant

Not even two days after Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong went on a profane, guitar-smashing tirade at a Las Vegas appearance, the band has confirmed he's entered rehab. Hope those new albums sell pretty well so he can pay for it.

The L.A. Times reports that Armstrong cut short a rendition of the band's Basket Case at the iHeartRadio Festival at the MGM Grand when a prompt noted the group had one minute left on stage. What followed was an epic swearfest so vulgar and rage-filled, even Clear Channel called it "one of the most epic, punk rock sets in recent memory," on its website. You ready for this?

"F--- this s--, I'm gonna play a f---ing new song, f--- this s---. Give me a f---ing break, one minute left. One minute f---ing left," Armstrong said, pointing ot the sign at the back of the auditorium. "You're gonna give me f---ing one minute? Look at that f---ing sign right there. One minute. Let me f---ing tell you something. Let me tell you something. I've been around since f---ing nineteen eighty fucking eight. And you're going to give me one f---ing minute? You gotta be f---ing kidding me. You fucking kidding me. What the f---? I’m not f---ing Justin Bieber you mother f---ers. You gotta be f---ing joking, this is a f---ing joke." He then smashed his guitar onstage and walked off. Watch it below if you're not at work and can't be easily offended (we warned you).

That seemed all well and good, given the band's roots and the need for P.R. ahead of the Tuesday release of their latest album, ¡Uno!, but a statement on the band's Facebook page Sunday showed things were much more serious.

"Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse," the statement read. "We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances."

There was no official word on what said substance may be, but there have been hints it was alcohol, the Times says. They are due to return to the MGM Grand for a Feb. 8, 2013 show. Billie Joe should be out by then.
