Guess who's back on the scene

Tbdrudy032007 All you born-insecure, jock-jawed suckas will no doubt love to hear Dolemite is back. The Hollywood Reporter says the 1975 blaxploitation hero is slated to return to the big screen, with the O.G. title character’s embodiment Rudy Ray Moore pulling an exec producer credit. “I think there is a certain sincerity in the original that is kind of undeniable,” said director Bill Fishman, who bought the remake rights and will direct the film. “(Moore’s) a cult figure and a luminary ... He’s an original.” As for the foul-mouthed ex-con’s memorable banter, rest assured there’s going to be plenty of rat-soup-eatin’. “(We are) giving enough respect to the original and building on it,” added Fishman, whose unfortunate credits include such forgettables as Car 54, Where are You? and Tapeheads. “We are going to use some of the original one liners. (Moore’s) eminently quotable.” Production should begin in the fall, with possible shooting in New Orleans. A star isn’t cast yet, but Fishman mentions Snoop Dogg as a possibility. We’ll meet him at the Total Experience. [Photo: Getty Images]
