Hailee Steinfeld will be in a live-action version of 'Sleeping Beauty'
If you didn't think the upcoming reboot of Batman on the heels of Batman being rebooted wasn't proof enough Hollywood has run out of ideas, guess what? There's yet another live-action fairy tale in the pipeline -- Sleeping Beauty -- this time starring True Grit's Hailee Steinfeld. At least they got an Oscar-nominated actress for this one.
Deadline.com says 14-year-old Steinfeld is attached to a script by Lindsay Devlin that follows the titular character as she falls into a dreamworld and has to find her way out. That sounds a lot like Alice in Wonderland to us, but whatever. And of course, given that Hollywood always likes to duplicate things, there's another version for Disney called Maleficent that may be directed by Tim Burton and star Angelina Jolie as the witch, although those are both just rumors.
The site points out they will join the already released Red Riding Hood, plus Snow White and the Hunstman with Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron; The Brothers Grimm: Snow White with Julia Roberts and Armie Hammer; Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters with Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton; Peter Pan with Channing Tatum; and Oz: The Great and Powerful by Sam Raimi, starring James Franco. They also will be a part of the pop culture lexicon The Juice* will never lay eyes upon. What an honor!
