Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe admits troubles with alcohol
Been wondering how Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe has been dealing with the fame that's followed him since childhood (besides getting naked on stage for Equus)? Well, he's quit boozing, because, well, he didn't want to end up like Lindsay Lohan. All those Potter kids are so well-adjusted!
"I became so reliant on (alcohol) to enjoy stuff," he tells British GQ, according to USA Today. "There were a few years there when I was just so enamored with the idea of living some sort of famous person's lifestyle that really isn't suited to me." Luckily, he managed to avoid any embarrassing paparazzi moments. "I really got away with that because there were many instances when a shot like that could have been taken."
So while this isn't quite an admission he's an alcoholic, the 21-year-old does go on to affirm he's quite happy staying in now, sans a drink in his hand.
"As much as I would love to be a person that goes to parties and has a couple of drinks and has a nice time, that doesn't work for me. I do that very unsuccessfully," he says. "I'd just rather sit at home and read, or talk to somebody that makes me laugh. There's no shame in enjoying the quiet life. And that's been the realization of the past few years for me."
Wow, that's a golden interview for a guy who just made his last kiddie movie. Next up: A sequel to Requiem for a Dream.
