Heavy D was reportedly feeling sick before collapsing
There's still no official word on the cause of Heavy D's death last Tuesday, but the New York Daily News says the 44-year-old rapper and producer definitely wasn't feeling well. Of course, he did weigh 344 pounds at the time.
"He had gone to the doctor the day before,” assistant chief to the L.A. County Coroner Ed Winter told the paper. "He had what appeared to be like flu-like symptoms." An autopsy was performed back on Wednesday, but toxicology tests must be performed first, of course. "He was taking medication, so we want to see what the levels were."
The performer, whose real name was Dwight Arrington Myers, had spoken to families about his health prior to his collapse in front of his Beverly Hills home.
"He said he had a touch of pneumonia, maybe from traveling. He just got back from England," cousin Ruddy Phillips told the Daily News. Phillips had spoken to D's father, who relayed the information. Test results are expected to take up to six weeks or more.
