How much money did Whitney Houston have? Enough for family to fight over

There have been plenty of rumors that Whitney Houston has zero cash left in her estate, but as yet there's no real proof either way. You don't see the gossip media not discussing it, though. Heck, The Juice* just wrote about her New Jersey mansion, which was nearly foreclosed on in 2006, getting put back on the market by a broker. But don't expect her family to make out like bandits just yet.

CBS News says Houston's estate is slated to make about $10 million this year, a paltry amount compared to the likes of Michael Jackson, whose estate made $170 million just last year. That's because Whitney didn't write or own any of her songs, so most of the royalty money goes to the songwriter and the publisher -- about eight cents per radio play, the network says.

The upcoming release of her movie Sparkle will goose her posthumous earnings, plus there's got to be something left of the $100 million record deal she signed in 2001. TMZ says maybe $20 million is left. That's plenty for 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina, but Whitney's mom Cissy Houston is concerned Bobbi's father Bobby Brown may be trying to snake that cash from his kid.

The site says Brown isn't welcome at Whitney's Saturday funeral and needs to keep his broke self away from Bobbi altogether, although the singer swears he's just trying to bring the family together. Wait until they find out a Sony Music executive meeting this week about marketing schemes to profit off Whitney's death may generate even more money.

Meanwhile, reports say Chaka Khan, Bebe and CeCe Winans, Valerie Simpson, Ray J and his sister Brandy, Antonio "L.A." Reid, Dionne Warwick, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and Kevin Costner all are planning on attending the funeral. Good thing it'll be broadcast on Livestream so everyone can see.
