Hugh Jackman injured during zipline accident on Oprah Winfrey Show
Hugh Jackman believed a little too much of his own press as an action star, injuring himself during a zipline stunt for The Oprah Winfrey Show while it's being shot in Australia. Look, we know you're manly and all, Hugh, but you've only got just so many years left in you.
Sky News says Jackman was riding a zipline from the top of the Sydney Opera House to the stage some 300 feet below Tuesday, but didn't brake in time and crashed into a spotlight in the stage's lighting rig. A piece of glass ended up in his eye (watch video of the stunt below).
"It's a little hot up here," Jackman said right after the accident. "I'm not hundred per cent, I've hurt my eye. ... That was so much fun until the end." His agent no doubt called Hugh's insurance company, wife and an ocular surgeon all at once, on three separate phones.
Paramedics responded and he got slapped with an ice pack, but returned with a small bandage under his eye. He also admitted it was his own fault, which likely cause Oprah to heave a sigh of relief.
"I came down waving to everyone, looking over Sydney Harbour, saw my dad, the kids and you, went to pull the brake and then boing," he told Winfrey. Well, it was more like "crash," not "boing," but hey, he's the one with the bad eye, so he knows what happened.
