'Hunger Games' finale 'Mockingjay' will be two movies
Leave it to Hollywood to find ways to get you to pay even more money for something you're forking over by the fistful anyway. It should be no surprise to learn the third movie in the Hunger Games trilogy, Mockingjay, will not only be split into two movies, but will be released a year apart, just to keep you on the hook through 2015.
Deadline.com says part one will hit theaters Nov. 21, 2014, and the second will be released Nov. 20, 2015. And this is after sequel Catching Fire comes out November 22, 2013. That would be very consistent release dates, were it not for the fact the original came out on March 23, but whatever. We wonder how this affects Philip Seymour Hoffman's role as Plutarch Heavensbee.
This is likely good news for fans, in any event; There's probably no way they could cram everything into one movie, so they're taking Peter Jackson's lead from The Hobbit and splitting the difference. And then there's the DVD releases and extended cuts and bonus features and webisodes and fan films. Big money, no whammies!
